A nod to the 70’s can be seen with this block of flats with 10 units. The existing intercom system had multiple faults and had been repaired many times before. One part of the system had been partially upgraded to a compatible technology in the past 5 years, however this had also failed. Using an Aiphone GT series intercom with 2 wire technology, meant that existing wiring faults in the building were no longer a problem.
The intercom had been upgraded since the complex was built. However the upgrades were all using older analogue technology; so there was lots of room for improvement since intercom technology had advanced since then.
The setup of the apartment complex is interesting in that there are 2 buildings, each with its own entrance, as well as 2 gate entrances. The Dr Intercom team fitted a door station on the external pedestrian entrance as well as on the outside of both of the building entrances.
All doors and gates can be opened from inside the residence automatically but with each external gate only being able to be opened by the residents who reside in that building, giving an added level of security.
The Dr Intercom achieved this upgrade using an Aiphone GT series system.
